Shoe care:

Shoes have to endure a lot. Of course new shoes should stay beautiful as long as possible. Properly cared for shoes also look better for longer, which means they can be worn with pleasure for longer!

General information:

Shoes are usually made of leather. Leather is a tanned animal skin. Just like our own skin, leather stays at its best when it is well cared for. Protection, care (nourishing, colouring and shining) and cleaning are three main issues when it comes to shoe care. Leather can lose its suppleness through lack of care. Therefore, use the right products regularly. Collonil is a worldwide premium brand in the field of shoe care and is recognised as such. There is the right care product for every material. For protection, feeding, cleaning and colouring. With Collonil care products, your shoes will stay beautiful and well cared for for a long time!

Care of the zips:

Take your time to close the zip without pulling hard. Always pull the zip completely up to the top to let the brake work properly. Metal zips can be greased with candle wax to make them open and close more smoothly. We cannot give any guarantee on the wear and tear of zips.

1.Protect: New shoes should be protected with a spray before wearing them in order to optimally protect the material from dirt and moisture. Spray the shoes evenly from a distance of at least 20 cm. Do not spray too much (spray lightly at regular intervals).

2. Care (nourish, colour and shine): Through use, the leather can lose its suppleness and the colour can fade. Use care products to keep the leather supple and refresh the colour.

3. Cleaning: The best way to clean depends on the type and degree of soiling. The gentlest way of cleaning is dry cleaning. If the product is very dirty, first brush off the worst of the dirt. For more stubborn or bigger stains, we recommend damp cleaning. When using a cleaning agent, it is best to test the effect on the material first (in connection with colour fastness). Do this by carefully applying a small amount of the cleaner to an inconspicuous spot. After cleaning, always care for and protect the leather again. For this you can use Collonil Clean & Care Mousse or Cleaning Spray.

Tip 1:
Use shoe and boot trees to keep your shoes beautiful. The advantages of using shoe tensioners: - Repairs the creases in the footwear. - Keeps the shoes in shape. - Wooden tensioners absorb moisture in the shoes. - Ease of care of the shoes. - A cedar wood shoe tensioner provides a pleasant smell. The advantages of using boot tensioners: - Zips do not break (the shafts do not lie double). - Tension seams are not under pressure (the shafts do not lie double). - Reduce the so-called "crumple zones" with regular use. - Help ventilate the upper material.

Tip 2:
Always use a shoehorn when putting on shoes or boots. This makes it easy to get into the shoes/boots and protects the lining and heel reinforcement.

Tip 3:
Do not pack sprayed shoes directly. If they are packed wet, the material may stick and damage the finish.

Tip 4: Never dry your wet shoes near a heater. This is often too warm and will cause fabric to shrink and leather to dry out.

Tip 5: Shoes absorb perspiration. We therefore recommend changing shoes every two to three days to allow them to 'breathe out' and air them regularly.
